Childcare & Voluntary work

Since September 2012 I have been working with children on voluntary basis and in full time paid roles.

I have attached a written reference from my lecturer at RACC and the director at Chestnuts Nursery Alison Archibald.

Placement at Hounslow Heath Infant and Nursery

I observed Dilasha as a volunteer as part of her placement for her Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce.

I was impressed with her relationship with both the children and the teacher and it was clear to see that she was a valuable addition to the support staff.  Dilasha was given responsibilities within the classroom that showed the teacher’s confidence in her skills and abilities.

Chestnuts Nursery

I employed Dilasha as a result of seeing her working as a student volunteer at Hounslow Heath as I knew that she would bring the same qualities and skills to my nursery.  The most important quality for a nursery worker is to genuinely love spending time with young children and this is evident in everything that Dilasha does.

She has a thorough understanding of the curriculum and is able to support children’s holistic development.  I can rely on Dilasha to carry out any task to a high standard.  Her administrative background and skills stand her in good stead: in addition to following the requirements of the statutory framework and the nursery action plan. She uses her initiative to determine what needs to be done and gets on with it!  She works particularly well as part of a team with a shared ethos and vision for the nursery.

Dilasha’s warm and friendly manner extends to the parents and she demonstrates excellent lines of communication with them including managing the implementation of Dayshare – our system for giving parents regular updates about their child’s progress online.

As a senior practitioner/manager, Dilasha manages the staff effectively and expects the same high standards from them as she demonstrates herself.  This approach earns her their respect and full cooperation.

As the business expands, I would like to take more advantage of Dilasha’s business skills and have her working alongside me and the Business Manager with regard to budgeting, payroll and admissions.

Other Voluntary work  - Chiswick and Whitton CC

During my leisure time I help a local cricket club working in the capacity of a child welfare officer. It is my duty to safeguard children at all times during practice/match sessions, organise events to build teamwork among players and to encourage these players to develop their young talent in to something amazing in the future.
